for a lifetime

If you are anything like me, I consider part of my job as a homeschool parent to identify and nurture my children’s unique skills.

I constantly attempt to create an environment where they can explore and develop their skills. I frequently encourage them in one way or the other to continue to have passion and enthusiasm for learning and exploring.

By providing them with opportunities, resources, and guidance, I believe we can help our children learn, practice and perfect their inherent skills.

As my children continue to grow and learn, I remind myself that the journey is just as important as the destination. That's how the concept of Homeschool Publishing was created.

I want to create the most enchanting journey as possible for them.

Go beyond following the curriculum. Homeschool Publishing

can help your child’s creative writing jump to the natural

next step, the real world of publishing.

Children can experience crossing the magical threshold of co-authoring a book,

and sharing their work with the outer world by becoming a published author on Amazon.

While developing creative skills and self-expression,

your child’s sense of accomplishment will reach the sky!

Fantastic Dragons

We chose dragons as the topic of our group of fantastic stories, because they are a fantastic subject for storytelling.

They make for an exciting and powerful antagonist or protagonist. Also, many cultures across the world have myths and legends that feature dragons, which

adds a layer of depth and interest

to any story.

Dragons also represent strength and wisdom, making them a great symbol for a hero to embody and they often breathe fire and fly, making them the perfect magical creature to take your child’s imagination

to new and exciting heights!

Co-authoring fascinating stories

The idea of publishing a book for your child, especially his or her first book, can be overwhelming. Not only do you have to worry about the know-how, but then there is formatting, the cover, the launching in Amazon, Kindle version, printing… yikes!

Or one can simply participate in writing, and illustration of a story.

As a parent, you don't have to be a publishing or book expert to have your child co-author in our Dragon Tales book. There is no requirement to write an entire book.

Co-authoring one of our books is done by gathering a group of young creative authors together, with each author contributing a chapter or story.

That's it.

You just worry about giving to us your child’s great up to 1000 word story and illustrations, and let us do the rest.

If you are looking for an Individual, Family or perhaps a Community

Co-Authored book, scroll down to check these products down below.

As homeschool parents we can choose to dig deep in the ocean of possibilities

for transforming a school task into a fascinating journey.

You can choose to award your child with this wonderful opportunity that creates an atmosphere for sparking his creativity and motivation!

Yes, your child can become a published author!

Partnership Writing

Julie Bogart in her Brave Writer Curriculum has a whole section

about working

parent and child together called

Emerging Writers: Partnership Writing.

This segment encourages you, the parent, to partner with your young writer

to produce a writing product together and specifically targeting our age group.

working together

Can you and your child work together with writing the story? Absolutely!

Just as you naturally instruct your children in many other areas, educational or in daily life, this is another opportunity to bond.

You can walk your child through the process, the narrating as he or she writes. Or have them dictate the story to you.

By providing the guidance, and sharing your writing/storytelling style, you will bond as you complete the story.

Best of all, you will share a great sense of pride and accomplishment together.

Wouldn't that be amazing?

The Dragon Tales book is targeted to 8-12 years old children,

so this activity is a wonderful opportunity for bonding, learning and adventuring together.

Our Parents FAQ's

What are the individual story (chapter) expectations?

Your child’s chapter contribution can be up to 1000 words. Think of an essay, double-spaced and written in Times New Roman or Arial, with a font size of 12 pt. With that formatting, your child’s story of 1000 words will cover four pages.

In addition to the written story, our creative authors can submit up to 3 images illustrating their story (portrait, no landscape). The size of the book will be determined by the final number of our young authors.

You will submit a chapter, your child’s headshot and a short bio. Then you can sit back and let us do the rest of the work.

What about author copies, pricing, etc?

There are no author copies included. The main reason is we don't want to charge more, so we can send authors 15 or 20 books each.

Most families really only want a few copies for their own bookshelves and some for their loved ones, so it is much easier for you to get the exact amount that way.

We just set the price as low as possible on Amazon. This also allows us to utilize the advanced distribution of Amazon (and author's Prime accounts if you have one, for the best shipping prices).

FAQ image

How do I know the book will be good quality with many other young authors?

I love this excerpt from the Good and the Beautiful, Creative Writing Curriculum: “Be a light through the things you write, a light that leads others to true and good principles”.

With that as a guide for you and your child, along with his beautiful creativity and wonder, we are positive that the results will be amazing.

Do you do editing?

Because we want to capture the magical world seen from your own child's eyes, we won’t be doing any professional editing to your child’s story.

Should a story written by a child be edited/helped by me?

That is a great question! Define your homeschooling style and it's ultimately up to the discretion of your child and you.

This is a wonderful opportunity for bonding and adventuring on a great experience together. You can guide your child through the process as he writes or you write with him or for him, providing the right tools and supplies for the tasks at hand.

Or maybe it is more of a child led activity you want to implement. In that case if your child has written something that he is proud of and is ready to be shared with the world, then editing may not be necessary.

However, if he believes it is needed, feel free to give some guidance on that subject to your child. It may be beneficial to look over the story to make sure it is clear and concise.

Ultimately, no matter what your own style it's important to remember that the story is your child's work and should be respected and preserved. Remember you are magically capturing his own view and voice on his writing.

A good story typically has a few key elements that are important for a reader to be engaged and interested.

These elements include:

  • A compelling plot

  • Interesting characters

  • Vivid settings

  • Meaningful themes

  • And a satisfying resolution

A well-constructed plot should have a clear beginning, middle, and end with rising action, a climax, and a resolution. Interesting characters are key to any story and should be developed to have distinct personalities, motivations, and strengths and weaknesses. The settings should be vivid and detailed, providing the reader with a clear picture of the world the characters inhabit. The themes in a story should be meaningful, often connecting to real-world issues. Lastly, a satisfying resolution should bring the story to a close and provide a sense of closure to the reader.

It's your choice!
